Bryce Wooton and Sherry Terrazas Chosen as Entertainment for Valentine's Day Dinner

Eddie and Claudine Evatt, along with members of the Glad Tidings Church will be preparing a special Valentine's Day Dinner as a fundraiser for Bridge Community. Sherry Terrazas and Bryce Wooton have agreed to entertain guests with a variety of romantic songs for the occasion.

The dinner will be held at the Glad Tidings Church, Highway 11600 Hwy. 180 E on Valentines Day, Saturday February 14. Customers will have a choice of prime rib(rare, medium, or well done) or chicken cordon bleu for $25 per person, and their choice of seating times - 4:30, 6:00 or 7:30 PM. Tickets are available from Bridge Community board members, from Eddie or Claudine Evatt or from the Bridge Community Office at 213 W. Hwy I80. Phone 538-5754 or 597-0065. Tickets are going fast, and sales will end on February 7.

Bridge Community is a 501 (c) (3), not-for-profit organization incorporated in the State of New Mexico to establish a continuum of care senior housing village in Silver City to serve seniors/retirees in Southwest New Mexico. When completed, Bridge Community will provide a variety of choices in living arrangements from independent living in a duplex or a private apartment in the main complex to assisted living, memory care, full time nursing and end of life care on a single campus. Home health and Hospice care will be available at all levels when appropriate. A separate wing for residential Hospice is also being planned. Meals, housekeeping, laundry service and personal care will be provided from assisted living through all succeeding levels. Those in independent living will have services available at an extra cost.

Through the years we've watched many people move away when they felt they could no longer maintain a private home in this area. They are in other cities in New Mexico or many even in other states. We have also observed older folks on the road more often than they should be as they are go daily to visit loved ones in special care centers. It is the aim of Bridge Community founders to provide all services on one campus so if one must leave their own place to visit a loved one, they need only walk across the yard.

It is also the intent of Bridge Community, insofar as possible, to provide jobs for local people both in construction and management and caregiving - and to keep rents affordable for middle income self-pay residents. They also plan to have a separate foundation that will raise funds so that anyone who can support themselves for a given period of time will never be asked to leave because they deplete their private funds, but costs will be supplemented by other funds raised by the foundation.
