Fort Bayard 149th Birthday Celebration will be held Saturday, August 22. The Fort Bayard Museum, located on the west side of the Parade Ground, will open from 9:15 - noon. A walking tour led by military historian Bill Kupke and army treatment of tuberculosis at Fort Bayard will begin at 9:30. Birthday cake will be served at 11. There will be book signings, old-fashioned games and toys, and creations of the Grant County Art Guild.

At 7 PM in Fort Bayard's New Deal Theater, Jane Voss and Hoyle Osborne, from the Chautauqua PProgram of the New Mexico Humanities Council, will present a Concert - Lecture of "1912: A Musical Snapshot of America in the Year New Mexicp Became a State."

Admission is free, but donations to support the goals of the Fort Bayard Historic Preservation Society are welcomed.
