Smith Real Estate RSSmith Real EstateComing soon the 24 Club Annual home Tour to be held on June 5, 2016 from 1:00PM to 4:00PM. This year's tour will be a walking tour of the West College Avenue/Santa Rita neighborhood of Silver City focusing on five historic locations including homes and professional buildings.

Smith Real Estate, stop number four on the tour, at 505 West College Avenue was once a private residence. Built by William Laizure in 1891 for the C.C Shoemaker Family, the large brick home once included private tennis courts where the Silver City Public Library now stands. The home has seen many remodels through the years including the addition of a second story, and an add-on in the 1920's. The home has several high-pitched roofs, a brick porch with pairs of turned wood columns, lozenge lights and many fleur-de-lises stained glass in transom lights over many windows. Later occupants included a medical clinic, and a private nursing home. The house underwent major rehabilitation again in 1994 by Dehtan Construction of Silver when it became the home of Smith Real Estate.

24 Club provides service with educational, charitable and needy projects throughout Grant County. In addition, 24 Club supports the Betty Cook Scholarship and the Christine Drangmeister Scholarship which are awarded twice yearly to Grant County women attending Western New Mexico University.
