Kit Carson film RSThe Fort Bayard Historic Preservation Society's summer film series will resume on Thursday, June 30th at 7 p.m., at the Old National Guard Armory on Highway 180 East.

The feature film will be the PBS Documentary "Kit Carson", produced as part of the renowned "American Experience" series on Public Television. Quoting from the producers of the documentary, "To some, he was one of America's greatest heroes: a brave and loyal guide who laid out a path for the westward moving -nation, an Indian tracker who could follow any trail, and a fearless warrior featured in dozens of bestselling novels. But to others, Christopher "Kit" Carson was a villain who waged a merciless crusade against one of the West's greatest Native American tribes."

The summer film series compares historical documentaries with Hollywood movies in order to examine how the great culture clash in the West, of which Fort Bayard was part, is depicted in modern society. Admission is free, and public is invited. For more information, contact
