2015 Silver City Dias de los Muertos parade scene
with hand made monsoon puppetThere will be a series of free monsoon puppet classes offered at Leyba an Ingalls Arts from 5:30 - 8:00 on Wednesdays, October 5,19 and 26. The first night will be cardboard construction for those wanting large puppets, and beginning paper mache of smaller ones such as those tiny ones on sticks. People can finish building them during the next week or at home if needed. The second class, on October 19, will be finishing and painting. The final class will be for completion work.

Participants should bring some of their own tools depending on what they want to make. If you are making a big puppet bring a utility knife and a utility stapler(not staple gun) if you have these items. There will be some staples and staplers available as well as cardboard, paper mache material, paint and decoration supplies. There may be a need for newspaper and extra cardboard. The puppets and their makers will be invited to participate in the Silver City Dias de los Muertos parade scheduled for 3:30 on October 30. The parade and the day of activities for both young and old alike are just part of a multi-day collaborative community event of remembrance and celebration.
