Galleries, studios and individual artists have come together to celebrate in one fantastic festival showing the best in Silver City art and artists. The Seedboat Gallery is the headquarters for the 2016 Art Fest And Studio Tours and the place to pick up complimentary brochures, maps and studio and gallery guides. There are studio tours, art demonstrations, workshops and lectures. Open to the public during the Artfest are activities for all ages, all levels of artists and those who just enjoy the ambience of the art community. It's a great time to purchase, learn or just have fun with art !

Also in the Seedboat Gallery Annex is the Artfest Individual Artist and Studio Artist Exhibit. You can see a sampling of 26+ individual artists, as well as the work of the local Studio Artists. It is an amazing exhibit!

Studio tour locations are both in town and in the outskirts of Silver City and a brochure and map are best for planning your visits. All studios on the list are scheduled to be open from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m. on October 15 and 16. Many will be open additional hours, so if you are not visiting on the hours and days indicated, it might be best to call ahead.

At Silver City's historic downtown theater, The Silco, will be showing an intriguing art film, "Complete Unknown," at 2 P.M. on October 14, 15 and 16th. There will be a short talk before the movie each day.

There are many classes, demonstrations, workshops and lectures available during the remaining days of the Artfest. Most of these are free while a few have a small charge for materials, etc. Many of Silver City's best and well-known artists are conducting these special happenings. A sampling of classes for Saturday, October 15, includes "Hot Flash," using photographic collage with encaustic beeswax with Julie Enos and Diane Kleiss demonstrating techniques. Mariah Walker will be showing you the step-by-step process she uses in her unique mixed media paintings. Also, Chamayo Tapestry Techniques from northern New Mexico will be presented by Hosana Eilert. These are all free classes and there are many more!

The 10-day Artfest will come to an end on Sunday, October 16. And it will conclude in grand style! The closing reception will be a true gala celebration! There will be champagne, chocolates and an art couture fashion show with 30+ art inspired entries on a canvas of bodies! It is free by invitation but you must contact one of the participating galleries to get your invitation. Raffle winners will be announced.
