Xmas parade RSTown of Silver City Public Works Staff, Eric Sanchez, Alfred Sierra and Jeremiah Saucedo with help from Silver City MainStreet Marketing and Promotions Coordinator, Brandy Thornburg worked hard to install the street light garlands in anticipation of the Lighted Christmas Parade.Downtown Silver City will be an exciting place to be on Saturday, November 26. The 26th Annual Lighted Christmas Parade, coordinated by Silver City MainStreet, will start on Broadway and Cooper at 7pm and proceed to Bullard, turn north and end at College Avenue. Come out to see your friends and neighbors who are participating in the parade. The parade will begin with the Vietnam Veterans Color Guard, followed by a Silver City Police car. The following are the schools, businesses and organizations that have entered the parade: El Grito Head Start, Guadalupe Montessori School, US Forest Service-Gila National Forest, Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Freeport McMoRan NM Operations, Hidalgo Medical Services, Aldo Leopold Charter School, High Desert Humane Society, The Jumping Cactus, The Silco Theater, Model Railroad Museum, Church of the Good Shepherd, Silver City Food Co-op/Bikeworks, Power and Light Press, Little Toad Creek & Distillery, Western Bank, Silver City Gospel Mission, Marine Corps League Detachment 1328, Holiday Inn Express, Silver City Daily Press, Wells Fargo Bank, Performance Breaking, The Door Christian Fellowship Church, 1st New Mexico Bank followed by a visit from Santa in an antique fire truck. The entries are being judged in three categories, schools, nonprofits and businesses. First, Second and Third Place Awards will be announced at the Little Toad Creek at 200 North Bullard immediately following the parade.

Small Shop RSLook for Shop Small Businesses in Downtown Silver City and share your shopping experience.Saturday is also "Shop Small" Saturday. During the day you can pick up a complementary "Shop Small" bag at the Visitor Center at 201 North Hudson. The Visitor Center is a great place to park for downtown shopping with easy access by way of the Market Street Pedestrian Bridge. Silver City MainStreet will also have the bags to distribute between 11 am and 3 pm at "The Hub" on the corner of Bullard and 6th Streets. Numerous stores will be offering specials. The following stores have signed up to officially participate in "Shop Small" Saturday: Home Furniture, Soul River, Encore, Moonstruck Galleries, Copper Quail Gallery. Additional participating shops are also offering specials for the event: The Marketplace- 10% off most items, Everything Under the Skye-Body Jewelry Sale-Buy 2 get 1 Free and 10% off all smoking accessories, Hops-Balloon Pop specials, Silver City Food Co-op/Market Caf+
