Musicians heavily influenced by older country artists like Merle Haggard, Buck Owens and Patsy Cline would be one way to describe the Yarbrough Band of Las Cruces. The Yarbrough's are a classic country group that plays the traditional style of western dance music that has thrilled crowds for nearly 8 years. The band consists of Jacy on fiddle, Dawson on guitar, and Jason Yarbrough on bass. They also have some of the most talented musicians in the area playing with them in Mike Matthews and Bill Radcliffe. The group was thrilled to win the 2013 AWA award for Country Band of the Year in Dallas, Texas. The band prides themselves on keeping the tradition of real country music alive and well through their own music at all their dances.

The Yarbrough Band will perform again this Saturday, April 22 at the annual Copper CowBelles Shindig - a Bunkhouse Bash. The Shindig is a long-standing tradition in Grant County, this dinner, dance and silent auction is sure to have something for everyone. The event was originally started by local ranchers as a yearly way to get together and socialize. Today, the event appeals to individuals from all walks of life and the highlight is dancing to the Yarbrough's.

Pat Hunt, Copper CowBelle President states, "If you like to dance, the Yarbrough Band is a treat. You just can't help but dance to their music! We are excited to share, as a special treat this year, Jacy will be playing with the band after taking time off to get married and have a baby. Last year, so many attendees commented that they missed her on talent on the fiddle."

You can get tickets to the dinner and dance at Aunt Judy's Attic, Western Bank, Farm Bureau Insurance; Susan Sumrall or Circle S Western Emporium in Deming. Ticket prices are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. The doors open for the dinner from 6 to 7 pm and the Yarbrough Band starts up at 7:30. The Shindig takes place this Saturday, April 22 at the Flame Convention Center in Silver City. This event is a fundraiser for the CowBelles and proceeds support local agricultural and beef education projects throughout the year.
