The Silver City Museum Society and the Silver City Museum are hosting the 34th Annual Ice Cream Social which is the traditional anniversary celebration of the opening of the Museum in July 1967. This year the Museum is celebrating its 50th Anniversary and Grand Re-opening after renovations occurred earlier in the year.

The annual event will be held in conjunction with the City's Fourth of July parade. The ice cream social will take place Tuesday, July 4 from 11 am to 4 pm in the Museum Courtyard located at 312 W. Broadway . Thanks to our corporate sponsor, Western Bank, admission is free so the public can enjoy live musical entertainment and various children's activities. Tickets can be purchased for the ever-popular cake walk, ice cream cones, root beer floats, beverages, and popcorn. There are several volunteer opportunities still available so contact us on how to earn free tickets.

While attending the Ice Cream Social, be sure to visit the 60's exhibit entitled, "Fifty Years Ago in Silver City" which is currently on display inside the Museum. Suggested donation to tour the Museum is $3 per person.

The Silver City Museum creates opportunities for residents and visitors to explore, understand, and celebrate the rich and diverse cultural heritage of southwestern New Mexico by collecting, preserving, researching, and interpreting the region's unique history.
