Steve Sans will give a talk on Western cultural influences, both religious and philosophical, that shape our attitudes toward animals. The talk is intended as a lead-into next week's blessing of the animals. Steve Sans, a retired biology teacher, and his wife started and operated an animal shelter out of their home in Winnemucca, Nevada. They focused on taking old or infirm animals that others no longer wanted or simply could no longer care for. The animals ranged from horses to a tarantula the parents of a college-bound student turned over to them. Steve earned a BS and MS from Oregon State University and a BA from the University of San Francisco where he majored in Sociology and minored in Theology and Philosophy.Although this is not a Family Program Sunday, there will be childcare available for parents who would like to attend. There will be coffee and conversation after the service, and visitors are welcome.
