Jesse Lynch Jazz 101, with Jesse Lynch on piano, will be presented by the Grant County Community Concert Association at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, January 24, 2014, in the W.N.M.U. Fine Arts Center Theater in Silver City.

       Jesse Lynch is a performer, composer, arranger, improviser and educator. From his home base in Brooklyn, New York, he tours with the Jesse Lynch Trio which includes Joe Michaels on bass and Matt Smallcomb on drums. Their music encompasses a spectrum from Beethoven to Bop and from free jazz to contemporary composition.

       Lynch has toured the United States and internationally (New Zealand and Europe) with multiple artists, notably with Daniel Rodriguez and with the American Tenors. He appeared here in Silver City with Daniel Rodriguez four years ago, and his solo pieces evoked an enthusiastic response from the audience.

Lynch recently collaborated with saxophone legend Charlie Neville and with Steve Beskerone, bassist from Ray Charles’ ensemble. He also tours worldwide with the original four piece soul band, "Sonnyboy.”  In addition, Lynch has been performing seasonally at the beautiful Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite National Park since 2005.

This concert project is made possible in part by support from New Mexico Arts, a division of the Department of Cultural Affairs, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

       Tickets for Jesse Lynch Jazz 101 for non-subscribers will be $20 for adults and $5 for students to age 17. Tickets can be purchased at Alotta Gelato or Western Stationers in Silver City, online at www.gcconcerts.org  or in the lobby at the time of the concert.
It is still possible to purchase subscriptions to the remainder of GCCCA’s 2013-2014 season program, including this concert. The cost of $45 for the three concerts will also cover admission to the Umi Garrett concert on February 22 and Pavlo and his band on April 3.

       Following the regular season, a special concert featuring Midori on April 21st represents a rare opportunity to hear the world famous violinist. Tickets for this concert will be sold separately.
