In collaboration with Girl Scouts, the Silver City Museum is offering a spring break camp, entitled "Playing the Past: Historic Silver City Women," fromĀ April 15 to 17, 2014 from 9 am to 12 noon at the Silver City Museum Annex. The camp is designed for young people in the 3rd to 5th grades. The annex is located at 302 W. Broadway.

Campers will learn the history of early Silver City women and what they achieved. Each camper will "become" one of these historic figures and learn through play. Activities include making a journal, churning butter, creating Victorian jewelry, playing parlor games, and hosting a tea party for their parents.

Registration opens March 20 and continues through April 10 with a $15 registration fee. There is limited space, so early registration is recommended. Register in advance with Charmeine Wait at 538-5921 or email cwait@silvercitymuseum.org.

Funding in part for these programs and exhibits is made possible thanks to the members and volunteers of the Silver City Museum Society.

The Silver City Museum creates opportunities for residents and visitors to explore, understand and celebrate the rich and diverse cultural heritage of southwestern New Mexico by collecting, preserving, researching and interpreting the region's unique history.
