Silver City, NM – The Alumni Affairs Office has scheduled several events to take place during the 47th Annual Great Race weekend for alumni returning to their alma mater.

In celebration of Western New Mexico University's biggest tradition, alumni can register for a daylong schedule of activities for only $35. The fee includes a breakfast and Bloody Mary Bar in the Sunset Room on campus at 8:30 a.m., lunch following the race at 2:00 p.m. in the Intramural Gym, and a cocktail hour at the home of President Shepard beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Alumni arriving to campus early can pick up their Great Race Packets at the Mustang Festival at Old James Stadium on Friday, April 25 beginning at 4:00 p.m. The Mustang Festival is a new community event that will feature booths by local organizations, food vendors and live music by the Brandon Perrault Band.

WNMU students will be racing and attending other Great Race events throughout the week leading up to the final race which will circle the main campus three times on Saturday, April 26. Teams will take off at the start line above Old James Stadium at 1:30 p.m. Registration to compete in the alumni team is open.
