(Courtesy Photo)A Holiday Fiber Art Sale will be held on Friday and Saturday, November 23 and 24, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Grant County Conference Center located 3031 Highway 180 East in Silver City. The sale is sponsored by the SW Women's Fiber Arts Collective.

“The sale been such a success for the past two years that we had to expand into the Conference Center," states board member, Jean Hill. "We are very excited to have a larger sale since so many community members look forward to purchasing their holiday gifts from our members.” All of the items for sale are high quality, and handmade by the artisan selling them. Items include weavings, knits, hand painted silks, quilts, quilted items, wall hangings, tapestry weavings, fiber art tools and more! “What is so wonderful about this sale is finding a unique gift for every budget. We have some quilted items by Lynn Welsch, an award winning quilter, for under ten dollars, and also weavings that sell for hundreds of dollars. There really is something for everyone”.

“A small educational exhibit will be available for viewing in the lobby along with an exhibit of quilts, weavings and other fiber art. There is no admission fee, so this is a great way to learn about fiber art."

The Southwest Women's Fiber Arts Collective (SWFAC) was founded in March, 2005. We are a grassroots, all-volunteer, non-profit 501 c (3) organization with the goal of stimulating and supporting successful cottage industry in the southwest. The organization meets every two months and has learning programs throughout the year.

The SW Women's Fiber Arts Collective's mission is to celebrate fiber art and realize its economic potential. To accomplish this, we nurture and empower both novice and skilled artists and enrich the community by fostering opportunities to experience, learn and earn. Please see our website, www.fiberartscollective.org for more information about our organization and to learn about becoming a member.
