Cultural Affairs presents a livestream concert this evening (Tuesday Oct 27 at 7PM) Live from Light Hall. Albuquerque based band, Duke City Hora performs Klezmer music (a musical tradition of the Ashkenazi Jews of Eastern Europe), featuring Jordan Wax of Lone Piñon on accordion and Yiddish vocals, Margot Leverett on clarinet and Tanya Nuñez on upright bass. Leverett is a living master of klezmer, an infectiously joyous and heart-breakingly poignant musical tradition. The trio will play a selection of the diverse styles, rhythms, and Yiddish songs that make up the klezmer repertoire, as well as share cultural context and stories.
