The Grant County Rolling Stones Gem & Mineral Society enthusiastically invites the public to attend our 38th Annual Gem & Mineral Show over Labor Day weekend in beautiful Silver City, New Mexico.  The Show will be open on Friday, September 1st from 11am-4pm, Saturday, September 2nd from 10am-5pm, and Sunday, September 3rd from 10am-4pm at the Grant County Veteran’s Memorial Conference Center located at 3031 Highway 180 East next to Ace Hardware.  This great family event has activities for kids and admission is FREE!  Delicious breakfast and baked goods, a variety of food options and drinks will be available for purchase inside the air-conditioned Conference Center.

In addition to all the wonderful gem and mineral vendors from around the southwest, the Rolling Stones are thrilled to welcome local Grant County Maker’s Market artists as vendors this year.  The Show will expand to fill 4 large event rooms at the Conference Center and offer a dedicated educational activity area for kids that will feature “mining” for Pecos Diamonds.   New signage and locator maps inside the Conference Center will help visitors easily move throughout the venue to locate points of interest.

The 3-day Gem & Mineral show offers something for everyone— off-site field trips, wire-wrapping and lapidary demonstrations, educational displays, museum exhibits, hourly silent auctions, daily raffles, wheels of fortune and over 50 vendors. Additionally, presentations by Historian Bill Cavaliere and Paleontologist Rose Fowers will be featured.  Bill will provide a look into early mining around the west with his talk “Death in the Depths” on Saturday, September 2nd at 1:30pm.  On Sunday, September 3rd at 1pm, Rose will present a slide show and talk regarding her field experience during the mid-1990s excavation of a Late Pleistocene Mastodon—a native "elephant" that lived and died in central Arizona at the end of the last Ice Age.

The Grant County Rolling Stones Gem & Mineral Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation with a mission of stimulating interest in lapidary skills, geology, and mineralogy; fostering the growth and sharing of knowledge in these areas; and creating educational opportunities.  The Society accomplishes this goal through educational programs, teaching rockhound etiquette and public lands stewardship, providing a Lapidary Workshop, and by presenting an Annual Gem and Mineral Show and other public events.
