AARP Free Tax Help at Bayard Public Library

AARP is sponsoring Free Tax Help for taxpayers with low and moderate income and with special attention to those age 60 and over at the Bayard Public Library on Thursdays and some Saturdays starting February 7.

AARP, in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service, will prepare and file Federal and/or New Mexico income tax returns for taxpayers with low and moderate income and for seniors at no charge.

Taxes will be done by appointment only. Sign up sheets are at the Bayard Public Library, 1112 Central Avenue, Bayard, NM. Please allow at least one week for a return call.  If you do not have access to long distance or a telephone, you may come by on a day that taxes are being prepared and make a future appointment.

Even if you do not file a Federal tax return, call anyway.  Many low income taxpayers and seniors 65 and older may qualify to receive a rebate of up to $350.00.

Sites for free help are:

  • Bayard Library, 1112 Central Avenue, Thursdays starting February 7 and some Saturdays;
  • Mimbres Senior Center, Tuesdays starting February 5; and
  • Silver City Public Library, 515 W. College, Tuesday afternoons and Wednesdays, starting February 6.
