Is winning everything??
Winning is everything or maybe it's nothing. I really don't see how you could say it's nothing when we shout and holler at every sports event for our kids to win at all costs. “Knock their socks off," we'd shout from the depth of our lungs. And we do that from the very early ages. We seldom see a reward or trophy for the team that lost by points but won for being great sports and applying compassionate ethics all through the game. I could tell you the story of my one and only umpiring job at a peewee league baseball game where the opposing coaches got into a fight in the middle of the ball field. You fill in the details. No more would I risk my life umpiring.
Then there is the coach, say, in Junior High, he wants to move up the ladder and to do so requires a good win/loss record. Or High School, where salary comes into play. Or in college where winning becomes even bigger, in salaries plus other perks. Or in the pros where salary, bonuses and perks are directly tied to winning. And on and on it goes.
So, let's get back to the original question – Is winning everything?
If I were a politician I would be tempted to say something like this, “If I don't tell the people what they want to hear, and promise them things I cannot deliver, I will not get elected, and if I don't get elected then I cannot do all of the great things I know need to be done. So, getting elected by whatever means is the most important thing and after that I am free to do what I think needs to be done.”
You see how easy it is to justify playing dirty in politics. Not a one-party problem.
I've always been fascinated by the party of “No limitations on voting.” I've asked a lot of politicians of that persuasion what their justification was for making the polls so open that people were voting illegally and irresponsibly. The answer is usually about how much burden it would be to require “Voter ID” or “Voter Photographs” or “Voter Citizenship Proof” on the poor “Old Folks.” Which leads me to think, whoa, I don't mind doing all those things necessary to prove I'm eligible to vote, does that mean I'm not an Old Folk yet? In my wildest dreams.
If you really think it's about the Poor Old Folks, I've got this bridge.
I've talked to several Border Patrol Agents and usually get almost the same answer—“If our hands weren't tied we'd have the border closed in a few days.”
So then, what reason? Is it really about the Poor Old Mexicans slipping across the border with their backpacks loaded with drugs? Or, maybe it could be about the billions of dollars made from the drug trade. Or, does it have anything to do with the fact that DHS has made it difficult for those of subversive nations to fly in so they opened the border so they can walk in?
And we can go on and on from here—but let's don't, let's get right to the point. And the point is: Winning is Everything.
Every person stealing in from across the border is a probable vote for the party that has made the way clear for them. And once they get them here, they have to make the process of voting easy and uncomplicated. What would kill the illegal vote quicker than anything? Have a certified picture of the person presenting himself to vote attached to the voter ID card showing that he is in fact the person he is presenting himself as. And to go even further, make it a crime of substantial punishment to intentionally violate the voting laws and bring shame to the voting process.
Shall I tell you what? The truth is, the only way the minority groups who have banded together in order to become the majority can win an election against the conservative true majority is to cheat and lie. Lie about their real reasons for lax and uncontrolled voting and borders. But if you don't have a deeply engrained moral value system, winning is everything. I say that on the concept that in a country “Of the People and for the People,” it is mandatory that an honest election be held and held as sacrosanct.
So, it's that simple. It's fascinating to me to hear the folks gasp for breath when they hear of these things happening. What do you expect? This is a very rich country, based on and perpetuated by its clinging to the values of the Forefathers. These values are not so acceptable to the rest of the world and maybe not so valuable to a lot of the people who live here anymore. Bear one thing in mind and dwell on it everyday—the Founders didn't hesitate to warn the folks for centuries to come that this nation could and would not survive if people didn't ascribe to the Christian values taught by Christ. You can evaluate where we are today.
“The crude commercialism of America, it's materializing spirit … are entirely due to the country having adopted for its national hero a man who was incapable of telling a lie.” Oscar Wilde about George Washington.
That's My Opinion.
