December 2013 – At the December 16, 2013 Foundation Meeting, Victor Oaxaca, Silver High School (SHS) math teacher and golf team coach, presented the Gila Regional Medical Center Foundation with a donation of $192.32 to the Gila Regional Cancer Center.  During the Month of November, he and fellow SHS faculty members challenged their students to a “Sponsor a Beard” fundraiser to bring awareness that cancer patients lose their hair during treatment. Oaxaca stated, “100% of the students participated with donations from a dime to many dollars in this community-generated effort to give back to our community.”

Since incorporation as a 501(c)3 organization in 1988, foundation members, physicians, and hospital administrators have worked together to maintain and continuously improve GRMC as a place of medical excellence and patient-centered care for people of southwestern New Mexico.
