The Kiwanis Club of Silver City received a donation of 420 children's books from Literacy Link Leamos that will be given to Kiwanis Terrific Kid recipients for the remainder of the 2013-14 school year. Presenting the donation during the Kiwanis club meeting on Tuesday, March 11, was Caroline Baldwin, founder, volunteer, grant writer, and manager of Let's Read, the Literacy Link Leamos book give-away program; and Elizabeth Perez, Literacy Link Leamos Program Coordinator.

"Too Many Fairies - A Celtic Tale" by Margaret Read MacDonald, is age appropriate for Kindergarten through 2nd Grade and "My Teacher is a Dinosaur" by Loreen Leedy is written for children 3rd through 6th grade. Children receiveing Kiwanis Terrific Kid honors in the 10 local schools that Kiwanis sponsors, will be given one of the two mentioned books until supplies run out.
