Around 50 area Girl Scouts came together to celebrate the birthday of Girl Scouts. They joined together to celebrate 102 years of Girl Scouting. March 12th commemorates the day when Juliette Gordon Low, founder of Girl Scouts, officially registered the organization’s first 18 girl members in Savannah, Georgia.

Today, there are 3.2 million Girl Scouts. At their local celebration, girls also held their annual “Thinking Day,” which each troop represented a country in the world and shared information about Girl Scouting in that country. They also shared skits, heritage of their selected country, customary foods, crafts, and information on the country.

Countries highlighted at the event included Australia, Egypt, Sweden, China. There were many great skits, but one of the highlights was when Cadette Troop #275 had girls participate in the May Pole tradition. At the conclusion of the event, girls sang Happy Birthday to Girl Scouts and enjoyed refreshments.
