Serina Pack, of Silver City and Millennium III Honor's Student at WNMU, was recently elected National President of Business Professionals of America, Post-Secondary Division. BPA has 43,000 members in over 2,300 chapters in 23 states. BPA is the leading CTSO (Career and Technical Student Organization) for students pursuing careers in business management, office administration, information technology and other related career fields. The mission of BPA is to contribute to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic and technological skills.

Serina Pack will be serving as National President for the 2014-15 term, traveling the country promoting BPA and student participation in its programs designed to get students ready for the competitive workforce and be leaders in their communities. One of BPA's showcase programs is the its Workplace Skills Assessment Program (WSAP) which is designed to prepare students to succeed and assesses real-world business skills and problem solving ability's in finance, management, IT, and computer applications. The program allows students to demonstrate their career skills at regional, state and national conferences in 72 competitive events.

Serina Pack participated in BPA through Cliff High School, with Mrs. Agnew as her advisor. Serina Pack always desired to run for national office, but never had the opportunity with her busy schedule until now. In college, Serina joined the virtual chapter option of BPA. As a sophomore at WNMU, with double majors of Business Management and Environmental Sustainability, she pursued her long-time ambition to lead this outstanding service and leadership business organization.

At BPA's 48th National Leadership Convention held this past week in Indianapolis, Indiana, Serina Pack was elected to the organizations top office. Serina also earned several other distinguished national awards at the conference including 2nd place national finish in the competitive event-Entrepreneurship for her plan to take her literacy initiative "Read for Joy" into a non-profit business. She also received the Ambassador Torch Award-this highest torch award offered by BPA for service and leadership. This is the fourth time to earn this honor in her six years of membership. She was awarded the "National Service Learning Award" for a third time and also received the President's Volunteer Service Gold Award, receiving a certificate signed by President Obama and a gold pin medallion. She received a scholarship and was a top 10 national finalist in Public Speaking. Serina especially wants to thank Mrs. Agnew, of Cliff High School, for making her BPA journey possible.
