The New Mexico State 4-H Shooting Sports Contest was held near Raton, NM May 2 through May 4, 2014, at the NRA Whittington Center. The state contest is attended by over 200 senior (14-19 year old) NM 4-H youth and consists of events that include Archery, .22 Rifle, .22 Pistol, Shotgun, Muzzleloader, Air Rifle, Air Pistol and Hunting Skills.

Grant County was represented by 17 4-H members. These members comprised 5 teams competing in 4 disciplines, Shotgun, .22 Rifle, Archery and Hunting Skills. All of the Grant County 4-H youth attending the NM State 4-H Contest competed at a high level and conducted themselves as true sportsmen and women with focus, determination, courteousness and diligence. As a result, all of our Grant County 4-H Shooting Sports teams finished the contest with high marks.

The Grant County 4-H Shotgun Team 1 will be competing at the National 4-H Shooting Sports Invitational in Grand Island, NE, June 24 -29, 2014.

The Grant County 4-H Program as well as the Grant County Community are very proud of our 4-H youth and would like to congratulate them on all of their accomplishments and thank them for representing our community. Other participant and team placings are as follows.
