In collaboration with The Volunteer Center and Single Socks, the Grant County Community Foundation (http://www.grantcountycommunityfoundation.org) initiated the first mobile food panty in Gila on the third Tuesday of each month at the Gila Community Center. The distribution serves 75 qualifying families.
More than 3,750 pounds of produce, meat, dry goods and dairy products are included in the delivery from Roadrunner Food Bank in Albuquerque. For the May delivery, over 27 Gila Valley Volunteers helped unload the truck, sort and divide the delivery, pre-pack 75 boxes for distribution, and carry those boxes to recipients' vehicles.
