This year, Kids In Need Of Supportive Services (KISS), partnered with the Silver City Gospel Mission in applying for a Grant through Freeport-McMoran for the KISS Summer Program and Freeport graciously awarded $7,500 to help keep this program alive.

The Summer Youth/Family Activities Program provides an opportunity for underprivileged children and family members to spend quality time together.

Each summer, the kids and family members are picked up and taken to various events around town like lunch in the park, swimming, the library reading program, cultural events and possible out-of-town field trips, like to the Albuquerque Natural History Museum.

Kevin Cook, Manager for Community Development for Freeport-McMoran said that it is important to invest in the youth of our area and that the Gospel Mission provides one-of-a-kind services to our area which they are very happy to support. We are very committed to helping out the communities we are a part of.

Randy Salars, Executive Director of the Gospel Mission said that Suzy Kee, Tina Melendrez, Amanda Cardoza and the whole KISS gang does some remarkable work in helping these kids and we are always happy to join forces in making Silver City a better place to raise our kids. It was a pleasure to work with Sandtina and Kevin to make sure that this program continues.
