The historic Hearst Church in Pinos Altos is a present-day beautiful mix of history and art. Beneath the towering beamed ceiling is a treasure trove of art and fine crafts, all by local artists. The Grant County Art Guild has called this building its seasonal home for many years and its Pinos Altos Art Gallery that occupies the building continues to please those looking to explore historic buildings as well as those seeking to sample the local art scene.

On Friday, August 1, and Saturday, August 2, the featured artist will be Patsy Teiken, a new Guild member this year who was awarded the "Best of Show" and other ribbons in the Members Only Show. This is the perfect time to stop by the Pinos Altos Art Gallery and meet this talented lady and see her award-winning work.

On Sunday, August 3, Mark Bowen and Jane Bowen, both popular artists in the local art scene, will be featured artists and showing some of the best of their work. Jane is known for her needlework pieces, paintings and jewelry all of which are affordable handmade gifts for yourself or others. Mark's metalwork is so unique and already has a following of locals for both his indoor pieces and durable yard art. There is a lot of local art to see when you visit with these two very creative artists.

The Pinos Altos Art Gallery is located at 14 Golden Avenue and is open from 10 a.m. till 5 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and major holidays through October 5. There is no admission fee and both browsers and buyers are always welcome. The Grant County Art Guild is a nonprofit organization of 40 local artists and crafters and welcomes new membership applications. See http://www.gcag.org/ for more information.
