... FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON...


THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR

* A PORTION OF NM... INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS... EASTERN BLACK RANGE FOOTHILLS... LOWLANDS OF THE BOOTHEEL... SOUTHERN GILA FOOTHILLS/MIMBRES VALLEY... SOUTHERN GILA HIGHLANDS/BLACK RANGE... SOUTHWEST DESERT/LOWER GILA RIVER VALLEY... UPLANDS OF THE BOOTHEEL AND UPPER GILA RIVER VALLEY.

* THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON

* EASTERLY WINDS WILL PUSH MOIST UNSTABLE AIR INTO SOUTHERN NEW MEXICO AND WEST TEXAS WHILE AN UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM APPROACHES THE REGION FROM THE EAST. THIS WEATHER PATTERN WILL GENERATE WIDESPREAD SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE AREA WITH LOCALLY HEAVY RAINS EXPECTED. THUS FLASH FLOODING MAY OCCUR OVER A FEW LOCATIONS.

* HEAVY RAINS WILL BE LIKELY ACROSS THE SILVER FIRE AND WHITEWATER BALDY FIRE BURN SCARS RESULTING IN SERIOUS FLOODING OVER SURROUNDING LOCATIONS. CREEKS AND DRAINAGES MAY EXPERIENCE RAPIDLY RISING WATER FILLED WITH DEBRIS... LOGS AND ASH THAT COULD FLOOD AREAS DOWNSTREAM.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED.
