Man dies after jumping out of moving vehicle

(Silver City, NM)-On Wednesday August 7, 2013 at approximately 2:07 am the Grant County Sheriff s Office was dispatched to the Aklin Hill area in Mimbres NM. This was in reference to a report of a male subject who had jumped out of a vehicle while the vehicle was still in motion. The male subject who was later identified as Javier Torrez, 37 years of age, from an unknown address in California had apparently jumped out of a moving vehicle and was unresponsive at the time of the Deputies arrival.


Mr. Torrez was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Grant County Sheriff s Office Criminal Investigative Division is investigating the incident. Further information will be released at a later time.
