As of 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 14, the latest news from the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument is that the cliff dwellings ar open, but the Visitor Center is temporarily closed due to flooding debris over the road to the center. Mesilla Valley Search and Rescue, who were on scene, removed the debris.

The National Weather Service predicts a 30 percent chance of rain in the Silver City area this evening and again tomorrow afternoon, with chances dropping to 20 percent and down to 10 percent by later in the week.

Visitors are advised to call 575-536-9461 for latest conditions, before leaving to visit the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument.
