The Copper Quail Gallery, at the corner of Yankie and Texas in historic downtown Silver City's Art District, hosted a reception on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 7, for John Wachholz's Wildlife Photography.

Wachholz's most recent wildlife photographs were taken at Yellowstone National Park, and his work was cut short by the federal government furlough that closed all national parks in October. In spite of that, the collection showcases Wachholz's ability to capture candid shots of antelope, fox, bear, turkey et al. His photos are each displayed in wood frames, often inlaid with turquoise, which the photographer makes himself.

Numerous other local artists are also featured at the Copper Quail, and their works provided a backdrop to the Wachholz collection.
