Sheriff's Office seeking help in identifying human remains

(Silver City, NM)—The Grant County Sheriff’s Office is investigating human remains that were found in the area of C Bar Rd south of Silver City. A couple of individuals who were out surveying that area came across a campsite. As they approached the campsite they discovered human bones on the ground.

Investigators of the Grant County Sheriff’s office along with the U.S. Forest Service and the Office of the Medical Investigator responded to the area where they did locate skeletal remains.

The remains were sent to the Office of the Medical Investigator in an attempt to determine the identity and cause of death.

Sheriff Raul Villanueva would encourage anyone with information on this incident to please contact the Sheriff’s Office at (575) 574-0100 or by calling Central Dispatch at (575) 388-8840.
