URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE EL PASO TX/SANTA TERESA NM
719 AM MST THU FEB 6 2014

...MORE SNOW SHOWERS EXPECTED FOR THE MOUNTAINS OF SOUTHERN NEW MEXICO TONIGHT AND FRIDAY...

.THE NEXT IN A SERIES OF PACIFIC TROUGHS WILL MOVE INTO THE STATE LATE THIS AFTERNOON. THIS SYSTEM WILL GENERATE SNOW MOUNTAIN SNOW SHOWERS FOR FOR THE MOUNTAINS OF THE GILA REGION AND THE SACRAMENTO MOUNTAINS LATE THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY. WHILE SNOW AMOUNTS WILL VARIABLE...NEW SNOW ACCUMULATIONS MAY REACH BETWEEN 3 AND 5 INCHES FOR ELEVATIONS ABOVE 7000 FEET WITH 1 TO 3 INCHES POSSIBLE AT LOWER ELEVATIONS. SNOW SHOWERS WILL TAPER OFF AND END LATE FRIDAY AFTERNOON.

719 AM MST THU FEB 6 2014...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 3 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 4 PM MST FRIDAY...

 

 

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN EL PASO TX/SANTA TERESA HAS
ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT
FROM 3 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 4 PM MST FRIDAY.

* EVENT: A WINTER STORM SYSTEM WILL GENERATE SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF
3 TO 5 INCHES FOR ELEVATIONS ABOVE 7000 FEET WITH 1 TO 3 INCHES
IN THE ADJACENT FOOT HILLS.

* TIMING: SNOW SHOWERS SHOULD RESUME OVER THE GILA REGION BY MID
AFTERNOON AND WILL CONTINUE THROUGH FRIDAY AFTERNOON BEFORE
ENDING.

* IMPACT: MOUNTAIN ROADWAYS WILL BECOME SNOW PACKED AND
ICY...RESULTING IN SLIPPERY AND TREACHEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS.

* WINDS: WINDS WILL RANGE BETWEEN 10 TO 20 MPH FROM THE WEST.

* SNOW LEVELS: SNOW LEVELS WILL START OUT LOW THIS EVENING BUT
WILL RISE TO 6000 FEET ON FRIDAY AS A WARMER AIR MASS MOVES INTO
THE AREA.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW...SLEET...OR
FREEZING RAIN WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR
SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES...AND USE CAUTION WHILE
DRIVING.
