Situation: Valencia County volunteer fire crews are at the scene of a small grass fire burning near the Los Chavez area, west of the Rio Grande and south of Los Lunas. Two homes in the area are threatened, but they have not been evacuated. The fire is currently just over an acre in size. There are currently four fire engines and 12 firefighters at the scene with more crews enroute.

Apple Pie Fire Information

Situation: Valencia County volunteer fire crews have contained the 1+ acre grass fire that began earlier this afternoon near Los Chavez. The cause of the fire is under investigation and crews will continue to mop up the area, looking for hot spots. Homes are no longer threatened.
