Situation: Volunteer and USFS Fire Crews are responding to the Whitewater Fire, burning south of Tyrone in Grant County. Several residences are threatened at this time, but there are no evacuations being called for. The fire has burned two outbuildings. Currently the fire is burning uphill toward the crest of a ridge. Crews are attempting to cut off its progress there. Should the fire crest the ridge, more structures could become threatened. The fire is being driven by heavy fuel loads, low humidity and strong winds.
