UPDATE Situation: Grant County and USFS Fire Crews are making good progress on the Georgetown Fire and no structures are immediately threatened at this time. An airtanker from Alamogordo will be utilized to help further stop the spread of the fire and strengthen containment lines. There continue to be no evacuations at this time.

Situation: Grant County and USFS Fire Crews are responding to a human-caused wildfire burning in the Georgetown area east of Silver City. 

Start Date & Time: 4/13/2014 @ approx.. 1745
Start Location: Georgetown area, east of Silver City

Cause of Fire: human, under investigation
Area Vegetation: grass, brush, Piñon/Juniper mesquite, cottonwoods
Acres Burned: 4+
Ownership(s): Private, BLM and USFS lands in vicinity
Structures Threatened: several in the area,
Structures Burned:None
Evacuations (Y or N & #): none
% contained:
Temperature: 68 degrees
Relative Humidity: 18%
Wind Speeds:
Wind Direction: SW
# of Personnel:
# of Crews: none
# of Engines: Multiple VFD engines along with USFS Engines
# of water tenders: one
