The WNMU Great Race has been a tradition since 1968. The Great Race lasts all week, with daily activities, but the climax is on Saturday after the noon softball game.

The students build the carts, and have a steerer and two cart pushers. On Saturday, they run the carts around the whole campus, including through the mudhole, a prime viewing spot, if you manage to stay away from the huge splashes!
