Grant County Regional Dispatch
Announces Extension of Reverse Notification Program through 2017

Grant County Regional Dispatch Authority was recently notified of a change of ownership for the reverse notification program, DeltAlert.  CodeRED, a service of Emergency Communications Network (ECN), has acquired DeltAlert.  As of January 2013, clients have been transitioning to the high-speed CodeRED system for improved emergency notification communications.  GCRDA became a customer of DeltAlert after a donation from an anonymous citizen. The donation paid for the first year of the service and an extension of the program was funded through grant monies acquired by Gilbert Helton, the Grant County Emergency Manager.  The grant funding extended the contract through 2017.

The reverse notification program is a web-based system to initiate telephone calls, text messages, faxes and/or emails to the community when an emergency is occurring in their neighborhood.  The system has used several times for fire evacuation notices and SWAT situations.  The new program will provide improved mapping.  During citizen enrollment, citizen’s home and business addresses are immediately geo-coded, with the ability for them to pinpoint their exact location using a satellite map to ensure the accuracy of their notifications.

The Grant County reverse notification system is available to all residents by signing up at www.grantcountynm.com, the County’s website, or on www.townofsilvercity.org.  The Grant County Beat, Silver City Daily Press and Silver City Sun News websites also have links to sign up.
