Three members of the Gila/San Francisco Water Commission will be speaking to the Grant County/Silver City TEA Party at the TEA Party’s monthly meeting Tuesday, April 1, 6:00 P.M. at the Red Barn.

Their presentation will focus on the Commission’s preferred uses of the 14,000 acre-feet of water at issue under the Arizona Water Settlements Act (AWSA). The NM Interstate Stream Commission will release its final recommendations for the water use in November of this year.

The Commission members will be Anthony Gutierrez, Grant County Planner, who is Chairman of the Commission; Vance Lee, who represents Hidalgo County; and Tom Bates, representing the Deming Soil & Water Conservation District.

The Gila/San Francisco Water Commission was formerly known as The Southwest NM Water Planning Group, and consists of representatives of government entities and various water use stakeholders in the counties of Luna, Hidalgo, Catron and Grant.
