For the first time in a number of years the Rodeo will be holding a competition for young women between the ages of 18-25, who reside in Grant, Catron, Hidalgo or Luna County.

The title of Miss Wild Wild West ProRodeo Queen is one of honor and prestige. This young woman will serve as the official representative for the Wild Wild West ProRodeo, exhibiting exceptional sportsmanship, professionalism and high moral and ethical standards as she promotes the sport of rodeo throughout her travels. She should be able to speak intelligently, with authority, and with knowledge about our western heritage, the State of New Mexico and the sport of Rodeo.

The 2014 Miss Wild Wild West ProRodeo may be given the opportunity to participate in other rodeos and events in southern New Mexico during her reign, and may also be eligible to compete for the New Mexico State Fair Queen title during Expo New Mexico.

The 2014 Rodeo Queen Contest will be held in Silver City on Saturday, May 17 starting at 9 am with the speech and interview portion of the contest at the Holiday Inn Express. The afternoon's horsemanship portion will be held at the Southwest Horseman's Arena. There is no admission charge for either event.  The application packet is available now on the Wild Wild West ProRodeo website and the postmark deadline for submitting the application is Wednesday, April 30.

If you are new to the "Queening World," the WWWPR Queen Program will be holding a "Mini-Clinic" on Saturday, May 3 with Dona Rutherford, founder - Borderland Queen Clinic and Miss Turquoise Circuit Pageant Director to explain how the rodeo queen process works, what to expect, what you need, and more. Registration is $25 and everyone is invited to attend. Please reserve your space by calling 575-574-2629 by April 30.

Wild Wild West ProRodeo will be held June 4 through 7, 2014, at the Southwest Horseman's Arena in Silver City, New Mexico.
