Lisa Kirksey brings a multifaceted background to her new role at the Silver City Museum as Curator of Exhibitions. An accomplished museum exhibition specialist, Lisa has been designing, producing and installing visual elements, educational presentations and painting expansive murals for history museum exhibits across the state of Florida. Among these are The Museum of Science and Industry in Tampa, Jacksonville Beaches Historical Museum, the St. Petersburg Museum of History and the St. Augustine Lighthouse Museum.

Most recently she was recruited as curator of exhibitions for the Florida International Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida, which hosted the "Vatican Splendors" exhibition - one of the largest collections of Vatican art and historical objects ever-viewed in North America. From 2006 to 2008, as associate curator of education for the Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, Florida, Lisa developed interpretive programs and materials and also trained and managed the docent corps of eighty-six members.

During her versatile professional career, Lisa has also been a dedicated adjunct instructor of figure drawing, painting and graphic design for the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Eckerd College and the University of South Florida. She holds masters degrees in Fine Art from the University of South Florida and the University of New Mexico visual arts departments, and a B.F.A. degree in Illustration and Graphic Design from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore. Lisa Kirksey is an accomplished mixed media artist whose commercial clients have included Disney, Macy's, FAO Shwarz and Melting Pot Restaurant Corporation.

Inspired by the New Mexico landscape and its diverse culture, Lisa is excited to be returning to New Mexico. When not at the Museum, you will most likely find her walking her Akita, Maya, and eating green chile which she has missed during her time in Florida.
The Silver City Museum creates opportunities for residents and visitors to explore, understand and celebrate the rich and diverse cultural heritage of southwestern New Mexico by collecting, preserving, researching and interpreting the region's unique history.
