In recent weeks and months, thousands of women and children have crossed the border into the United States, fleeing violence in Central America The humanitarian crisis has caused many to feel helpless in the face of such need, while others demonstrate anger and fear.

"Our church has watched these events unfold, and has asked, 'How can we welcome the stranger, as the Bible calls us to do?'" said Tyler Connoley, pastor of Silver City UCC. The members of Silver CIty UCC heard that a processing center was being opened in Artesia and another in Las Cruces. This seemed like the opportunity they were looking for to do something to help.

So, in response, the Silver City United Church of Christ and the Silver City Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in partnership with the Las Cruces Catholic Diocese and CAFé (Comnidades en Acción y de Fé) in Las Cruces, are collecting necessary items for the child refugees. Items being collected include:
