A volunteer is a person who believes that people can make a difference—and is willing to prove it. The Silver City Museum is grateful for all of the loyal and hard-working volunteers who make the Silver City Museum a source of pride in our community.
Our volunteers donated more than 5,000 hours of service to the Museum!! In fiscal year 2013-14, the Silver City Museum saw a 14% increase in visitation. We are busy and have many fun and interesting volunteer positions.
Some of the tasks that our volunteers accomplish are:
- Greeting visitors at the front desk,
- Assisting customers in our store, Facilitating "Brown Bag" lectures,
- Helping in the Collections area, Lending a hand with children's programs and activities,
- Working on construction projects such as painting, exhibit assembly and site improvements,
- Performing such functions for the July 4th Ice Cream Social as scooping ice cream, serving popcorn/soft drinks and assisting with the cake walk and children's activities,
- Providing musical entertainment for July 4th and Victorian Christmas, decorating the museum for Victorian Christmas, ensuring the success of Victorian Christmas by baking cookies, helping with the children's crafts, greeting visitors, working in the store and general assistance,
- Setting up and cleaning up after museum programs and events,
- Serving on the museum and society boards,
- Keeping our membership database up-to-date,

- Reaching out to the community on behalf of the museum, and
