Silver City, NM –Happy Birthday WNMU. The annual Founders Day event commemorating Western New Mexico University's founding is set to take place Friday, February 8 at 12:00 p.m. in Fleming Hall, the University Museum. 
 
The community is invited to celebrate with students and university employees beginning at 12:00 p.m. at the University Museum, where a birthday cake and a piñata are part of the program.
 
The University Museum will have open its permanent exhibit of 120 years of WNMU history, located on its fourth floor. Attendees can also preview the new NAN Ranch pottery collection.
 
Established as a Normal School on February 11, 1893, the university was known as New Mexico State Teachers' College and New Mexico Western College until it received its current name in 1963.
