- The House Labor Committee (HLC) substitute for House Bill 216, also known as the “Fair Pay for Women Act,” passed HLC as amended Thursday afternoon. This bill, sponsored by Representative Brian Egolf (D-Santa Fe-47), prevents wage discrimination on the basis of sex, and codifies in New Mexico law the idea of equal pay for equal work.
- The HLC substitute for House Bill 87, sponsored by Rep. Brian Egolf (D-Santa Fe-47), passed HLC Thursday afternoon. The bill restricts the sale of alcohol to someone who has had their license revoked for repeat DWI offenses or to those who have an interlock installed in their car, as indicated by their license.
- The House Judiciary Committee (HJC) passed House Bill 57 as amended in committee. The bill allows the theft of materials from telecommunications and cable devices to be prosecuted. The amendment changes the penalties for the first offense from third to fourth, and for subsequent offenses from second to third.
