Over the ages, music has moved the mountains of human injustice and suffering, from civil rights to women’s rights to Black Lives Matter to labor movements and anti-war protests, and so much more. As Holocaust survivor and Nobel laureate, Eli Wiesel once said, “There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest.” Music has always been a means to that end.

Finally, the program your pets have been waiting for! This Sunday, Heidi Ogas will be leading us in a Blessing of the Animals.

Please bring your pets to gather with us out on the patio. For their safety and ours, please leash, cage, crate, harness or otherwise contain your critters. If you have a pet who has passed, or one you don't feel comfortable bringing, feel free to bring a picture, toy or memento. The service will be a bit shorter because of our pets’ possible anxiety at being in a strange place.

The Grant County Art Guild will be offering art demos in a variety of mediums at the GCAG Gallery Saturday, Oct 7, from 10am-3pm. Drop in and try your hand at weaving, see how clay jewelry is etched, or how watercolor and acrylic paintings develop. The GCAG gallery will be open from 10am-7pm. It carries the work of 35 LOCAL artists working in a wide variety of mediums.

Neighbor broke light and camera and has been yelling at their dog. Deputy advised this is an ongoing issue that BPD is already working on.

Vanadium and Orchard streets
Male in a black hoodie ran and is in a yard. Officers advised out at an Orchard Street address/clear from location.

Someone from the utility department advised someone shot at the W Mountain water tank and it is leaking.

A couple in the ditch are yelling/female is saying don't hurt me and to get off her. Caller called back advising the female walked back into the ditch and the male is in a grey sedan and is the manager of the park.

Male will not leave the clerks alone/want him issued a CTW. Officer had negative contact.

A named guest is refusing to leave Room 114. Officer out with Adam Borrego/confirmed warrant out of Dona Ana County.

Come enjoy special events at the Silver City Public Library for your time off school!

Silver City –Silver Schools Fall Break is will be October 16-20.
The Teen and Children’s programming is made possible by the Friends of the Library.
 
Tuesday, October 17 at 4pm, the Southwest Women’s Fiber Arts Collective will be teaching kids how to make paper pumpkins. “These great ladies come in and do a different craft every other month. This one is just in time for fall.” said Abigail Kipp, Youth Librarian. 

Thursday, October 19 at 4pm, we will be having squishy circuits. Come play with conductive dough and make LEDs light up or control a game on Makey-Makey. We will also have Little Bits which connect to power things like lights and fans.

SILVER CITY, NM, Sept 28, 2023 – The Gila National Forest, Wilderness Ranger District will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29. However, there will not be staff available who are designated as collection officers to make sales of passes, permits, maps, or other products.

“Our doors will be open and we will be available to answer questions,” said Wilderness District Ranger Henry Provencio. “We have a vacancy at our front desk that we would love to fill with a local resident who cares about the forest and enjoys talking with and serving customers.”
