Sarah Jane Higgins, 51, passed away Sunday December 29, 2013 in Alamogordo.

Visitation will be Saturday morning, January 4, 2014 at 9 o’clock at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Cotton City where funeral services will begin at 10 o’clock with Bishop Wayne Fralie presiding. Interment will follow at the Cotton City LDS Cemetery.

Sarah was born December 16, 1962 in Albuquerque to John and Wanda Evans Tedford. She was a homemaker and mother who over the years had resided in Kirtland, Silver City, Animas and also in Safford, Arizona. Sarah enjoyed arts and crafts and was also skilled in writing poetry. She also liked writing and creating music and especially loved being with her family.

She is survived by her mom, Wanda Tedford of Virden, NM, husband Jay Higgins Jr. of Safford, AZ; sons, Mitch Higgins of Holloman Air Force Base, Benjamin Higgins of Morenci, AZ and John Higgins of Phoenix, AZ; her sisters, Donna Mortensen of Decatur, AL, Nina Bonner of O’Fallon, IL, Bridget Payne of Virden, NM, Alvie Creek of Arlington, TX; brothers, Patrick Tedford of Alamogordo, NM, John L Tedford of Sonoita, AZ, Rolland Tedford of Abilene, TX, her mother in law, Edith Higgins of Safford, AZ; and her 5 grandchildren who she adored, Gavin, Devin, Sydney, Riley and Kendall Higgins. Sarah was preceded in death by her father, John Tedford and by her father in law, Jay Higgins Sr.

Pallbearers will be Ben,John and Mitch, Uncle Larry, Uncle Rolland, and Brett, Brandon and Bryce. Honorary bearers are Uncle Phil, Uncle Clifford, Uncle Tommie, Uncle Bobby, Little Tommie, Bryant,John E., Brennik and Brigham.
