Ludwik "Luddy" Joe Lutonsky, 80, of Deming, passed away on January 3, 2014 in a Las Cruces, NM hospital. He was born in Taylor, TX on March 19, 1933 to Josef and Agnes (Hrna) Lutonsky. He moved to Deming, NM in 1935 with his parents, two brothers and one sister in a Ford Model A to start a family farm.

“Luddy” graduated from Deming High School and served in the U.S. Army for two years in Fort Ord, CA. After meeting on a blind date, "Luddy" married California gal Loraine Haas on March 10, 1957. Having farmed in the Deming area most of his life, the couple bought their own farm in 1976. When he could tear himself away from farming, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, silversmithing and searching for Indian artifacts.

He is survived by his wife Loraine Lutonsky, sons Ricky Lutonsky (Peggy) and Kim Lutonsky (Tonja), daughter Cherri Lambeth, grandchildren Heather, Sonya, Justin (Lindsay) and Kalli (Fred), great-grandchild Levi, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

"Luddy" was preceded in death by his parents Josef and Agnes Lutonsky, brothers Edwin Lutonsky and Edward Lutonsky, sister Helen Dudley, son-in-law Bill Lambeth, and nephew Terry Lutonsky.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Baca’s Mimbres Crematory and a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 8 at 11:00 am, conducted by Rev. Ernie Vinyard at the First United Methodist Church, 1020 S. Granite St., Deming, NM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Luna County 4-H Council through the County Extension Office at 210 Poplar St. B in Deming or to Deming FFA in care of Larry Von Tress at the Deming High School.
