Dale H. Buss, 83, a longtime resident of Deming, NM passed away Friday January 3, 2014 at his home.

Funeral services will be this Saturday January 11, 2014 at 11 o’clock in the morning at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ernie Vineyard, Pastor officiating.

Dale was born April 21, 1930 in Gothenburg, Nebraska to Herman and Edyth Buss. He came to Deming in 1960 from Gothenburg after graduating from Kearney State Teacher’s College and began his career in education with the Deming Public Schools. He was a Physical Education teacher at the Jr. High and later became the school counselor. At the time of his retirement in 1992 Dale was principal at the Deming Jr. High. He was a member of A.R.C. in which he served as president for 3 years and also a member of the First United Methodist Church. Dale enjoyed being in the outdoors and camping and hiking in the Gila National Forest. He also enjoyed genealogy and was an avid fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

He is survived by his daughters, Vicki Hofacket and her husband Mike of Deming, Lori Lynn Buss of Las Cruces; brother, Randy Buss and his wife Sue of Kearney, Nebraska; 4 grandchildren, Leandra Stewart (William), Jarod Hofacket (Lani), Brandon Hofacket (Stephanie), Adriana Hofacket-Allen (Justin); and 9 great grandchildren, Charlie Hofacket, Wren Hofacket, Meredith Allen, Sam Hofacket, Brooklyn Allen, Jack Hofacket, Ender Hofacket, Aerona Stewart, and Calum Stewart; and sister in law, Elizabeth May of Phoenix, AZ.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Gerald Buss, and by his loving wife of 60 years, Geraldine M. Buss.
