Peter Lawrence Turrieta, 47, of Silver City entered into eternal rest at his home Friday March 7, 2014

Visitation will be Thursday March 13, 2014 from 3 to 8 o’clock in the evening at Baca’s Funeral Chapels. The Funeral service will be celebrated Friday March 14, 2014 at 10 O’clock in the morning at the Church of Jesus Christ of The Latter Day Saints with Bishop Justin Porter officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery.

He was born June 13, 1966 in Espanola NM, to Pete B. Turrieta and Violet P. Turrieta.

Peter is survived by his two sons, Lawrence Jr. (Keesha) and Joshua; his one and only daughter Jocelyn, and his ex-wife Judy Turrieta, all who live in Silver City. Three grandchildren; Azaleyah, Aaliyah Zae, and Jaydin. Two sisters; Sylvia Velasquez (Jose) of Silver City and Denise Sierra (Ray) of Albuquerque. He is also survived by Aunt Holivama Rackly, Uncles Tony and Lupe Maestas, Manuel, Raul Sr., Ruben and Richard Turrieta. He has many God children, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins who loved him dearly.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and his dog Chica. His favorite football team was the Denver Broncos. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. In his early years he worked as a nursing tech at Fort Bayard Medical Center, he delivered the Silver City Daily Press for many years and he was currently working as a custodian at Silver High School, which he very much enjoyed with all of his coworkers and their company.

He was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Violet Turrieta, Uncle Ramon Turrieta, Tia Emilia, Esperaza, and Aunt Lupe Turrieta; sister in law Yvonne Delgado.

Pallbearers will be Lawrence Turrieta Jr., Joshua Turrieta, Robert Velasquez, Robert Sapien III, Victor R. Maestas, Eddie Ortiz, and Eric Murillo.

Honorary pallbearers are brother-in-laws Ray Sierra, Jose Velasquez, Wero Jaurequi, Tony Delgado, Jaime Delgado and all of his nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
