Albert B. Diaz, 67, Silver City resident, formally of Deming, passed away Monday March 17, 2014 at Gila Regional Medical Center.

Visitation will begin Monday, March 24, 2014 at Baca’s Funeral Chapels in Deming at 3 o’clock in the afternoon. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 6 o’clock. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at 11 o’clock in the morning at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Concluding services and interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery. Father Ron Machado will officiate.

Albert was born January 5, 1947 in Santa Rita to Albert Sr. and Lydia Baeza Diaz. He was a very kind hearted and gentle person. A man of very few words, but everyone felt his love and loved his family whole heartedly, especially his daughters and grandchildren. He was a member of the New Mexico National Guard Division in Deming and worked for New Mexico Highway Department as a surveyor. For several years he owned and operated Radio Shack on Broadway in Silver City. Albert will be truly missed by all.

He is survived by his beautiful wife of 41 years Rachel T. Diaz of Silver City; twin daughters, Elizabeth Diaz of Deming and Erica Castillo of Goodyear, AZ.; 6 grandchildren Lakeisha, Azuriah and Reagen Arsola, Zachary Albert Castillo, Jacqueline Diaz and Joseph Castillo Jr.; 2 great-grandchildren, James Albert Gallegos and Franklin Jacob Castillo; god-daughters, Sarah Andrade and Violet Reese; 1 god-son Jonathan Chavez; brother, Erie Diaz and wife Orlie from Deming and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers are Zachery Castillo, Ernie Diaz, Greg Valdespino “Junior” David, Danielle and Oscar “Orie” Andrade. Honorary bearers named are Ruben Villalba Sr., Reagen Arsola, Franklin and Joseph Castillo Jr., Adam Diaz, James Albert Gallegos, Jacqueline Diaz, Lakeisha and Azuriah Arsola.

He is preceded in death by his parents Lydia and Albert Diaz Sr.
